This Ambergris Caye institution opened in 1974 as a burger joint. Since then, Elvi and her family have transformed it into one of the island's must-try restaurants, serving mainly Belizean and Mayan dishes, prepared with fresh fish caught just a few miles from your plate and quality meats; crab is one of the specialties, but don't hesitate to ask for a nice grilled lobster when in season. There's also a good choice for vegetarians, who can enjoy a delicious coconut or mango ceviche.

Maurice is the king of the fish grill, so don't hesitate to stop at this address if you are an amateur of lobster and other seafood products. The menu changes regularly depending on the fishing and the mood of the chef, but it is never disappointed. The organisation is not the main point of the restaurant, but we come here to enjoy a relaxed and musical atmosphere (reggae and calypso are very often the appointment). In short, you can enjoy your holidays!

Syd's is the restaurant of the Fried Chicken Specialist. There are also good Mexican specialities, and the map offers a beautiful declination of burgers. You can choose to settle inside and outside the patio on the edge of the fountain.

It's a great place to have breakfast: espresso, fruit dishes and omelettes are a delight. The à la carte dishes change regularly: fish, chicken-stuffed potatoes, sushi, vegetable soups, the menu changes but you can be sure of finding fresh, tasty meals. What's more, prices are very reasonable. Many colorful paintings are on display in the restaurant for sale, in case you fall under the spell.

Times and dishes vary according to Robin's whim, but his restaurant is definitely one of the best value for money in San Pedro. The service here is simple, with tables by the roadside, close to the barbecue where the chicken or fish is grilled. Simple and efficient. The food is Jamaican, as is the chef. It's best to arrive before 1pm at noon and before 6pm in the evening if you want to be sure of being served. Robin is very involved in the community and gives many cooking classes to the young people of San Pedro.

Glenda serves some of the best Belizean breakfasts on the island: fresh fruit juices and cinnamonrolls, accompanied by egg and bacon dishes. Sandwiches, burritos, tacos and rice and beans are also available. For lunch, the menu features a number of vegetarianoptions, such as vegetable burritos.

El Salvador's famous pupusa recipe holds no secrets here. You can eat in a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere right in the center of San Pedro, without paying a hefty bill. Many locals come here in the evening to chat while waiting for their order. It's an opportunity to meet the local guides and prepare for the next day.
