CASA ANCORA
Read moreLocated along the waterfront, in what is still a seafarers' village, an exceptional table in a resolutely Nordic sobriety decor; the young chef (very promising) who presides over the stoves offers a very high quality cuisine, which sublimates the irreproachable freshness of the food by the extremely sophisticated treatment he lavishes on it. At this level, simplicity almost meets perfection. The local wines, excellently chosen, are a perfect match for the food served. Among the best tables on the island.
ANCORADOURO
Read moreIn our opinion, one of the best restaurants on the island. Enjoying a magnificent view over Faial and the canal, you can sample superbly cooked fish and prawn kebabs, or opt for the large fish soup for two, Pico's specialty. The wine list is interesting too: you can choose between Portuguese and Pico wines! Local atmosphere. An ideal way to end the day after a hike along the coast or a day of swimming in the many natural pools in the area.
PONTA DA ILHA
Read moreAn impression of the end of the world takes hold of us when we arrive in this nice restaurant located as its name indicates on the tip of the island. The decoration is warm, the room is bright and a large wooden terrace offers a breathtaking view on the lighthouse and the ocean. Some starters to savor with a glass of white wine, regional dishes and fresh grilled fish of the day, according to the arrivals of the fishing. The menu is simple but tasty and the service is attentive. A very good address in this part of the island.
FONTE CUISINE
Read moreThis is the restaurant of the Hotel Aldeia da Fonte. It offers a fusion cuisine, more sophisticated and as much appreciated by locals as by tourists. We offer a varied menu and a good choice of Azorean and Mediterranean dishes concocted with a gourmet touch, based on local products (organic seasonal vegetables, organic Azorean meat) enhanced with aromatic plants and surprising spices. The restaurant also has a large terrace overlooking the garden where it is pleasant to eat. Courtesy staff and peaceful environment. Very good address.
RESTAURANTE RITINHA
Read moreSincere family cooking at affordable prices. The fish salad may not look like much, but it's absolutely delicious. A must try! The menu isn't very varied, but that's a guarantee of fresh produce. The emphasis is on local, family-style cooking. The welcome is very friendly (with a few words of French from the owner!) and the terrace very pleasant. The restaurant is located on the small port of Lajes do Pico. A good meeting point, and one of the best spots for an evening drink. Slow service, we warn you!
TROCA A NOTA
Read moreIn a sea blue room decorated with a Lajes fresco, you can taste traditional azorian cuisine… and Tuscan (pasta specialty). Friendly service and local atmosphere.
FAIA
Read moreThe restaurant is run by a German couple and the cuisine is in perfect harmony with the Azores. You have to leave the main road to get to the restaurant, but it's well worth the detour. The view of the ocean is magnificent, especially if you're lucky enough to be able to eat on the terrace. The dishes are made with fresh produce. The dishes are rather simple, but particularly tasty and flavorful. Fish and seafood of the day, rösti, cordon bleu and burgers all feature on the menu, along with a few vegetarian options.
ADEGA « A BURACA »
Read moreÀ Buraca is a concept! An initiative of Leonardo Ávila Silva, inaugurated on November 11, 2007 and part of the Wine Route since 2013. It's a museum, a cellar where you can taste excellent wines and a delicious restaurant all in one. The traditional restaurant offers typical cuisine that goes perfectly with Azorean wines. In addition to the restaurant, there's a crafts and cooperage store, a blacksmith's tent, straw, wool and wicker workshops... Please note: reservations required.
MERCADO BIO
Read moreIt's actually an organic grocery store, but if you go a little deeper into the store, you'll discover a counter and a few tables at the back. In a canteen-like atmosphere, you'll enjoy tasty dishes prepared with fresh, organic produce. We suggest the tuna if it's à la carte (or rather, à l'ardoise!), the salad of the day or the homemade hamburger. The kitchen is completely open, so you can watch your dish being prepared. The team is friendly, as are the surroundings and the dishes, so why deprive yourself?
RESTAURANTE EMENTA
Read moreEveryone actually calls this restaurant "Amaro" of the owner's name, which is a real local figure. A simple setting and a consistent regional cuisine. Good value for money, especially if you take the buffet!
AROMAS E SABORES
Read moreFor a gourmet break in a pleasant setting. A bakery with a small room where you can have lunch on the spot. Great salads, daily specials, soups and delicious cakes for a few euros. You'll probably come for a coffee, but you won't be able to resist the mouth-watering pastries (the cheesecakes are excellent for example). There are also good home-made and local jams that you can buy on the spot. A good address at low prices. Too bad it's not open for dinner!
RESTAURANTE ROCHEDO
Read moreYou will be offered very honest regional cuisine, including good fish.
MAGMA
Read moreEverything here is incredible. The building, all wood and lava stone, clinging to the hillside. The interior design, both classy and warm, with smooth concrete and wooden furniture. The view, from a large bay window and panoramic terrace, over the entire north coast of Pico to São Roque, the ocean and São Jorge in the distance. Then there's the food: perfectly cooked regional meats, fish spiced up with Azorean peppers and lightly revisited classics of Portuguese cuisine. It's a no-brainer.
MAR SUSHI TERRACE
Read moreClean lines, white walls and light wood furniture are the hallmarks of this cliffside Japanese restaurant, housed in an old Azorean house. Access is via the terrace, which offers a breathtaking view of the Faja de Ribeiras below. On the menu, sushi of course, prepared with local fish. But also a menu of traditional Japanese dishes made with products from the island and the Archipelago. Everything is fine, delicious and one of the best Japanese restaurants we've ever tasted! An excellent address.
ADEGA DO CAISINHO
Read moreLost on a forest road along the coast, a small white house and a large wooden cabin, separated by a rustic, friendly terrace overlooking the ocean. An atypical location for an equally atypical concept: on the one hand, a "gourmet light meals restaurant" offering star-rated tacos, burgers and pitas; on the other, a cocktail bar, where you can enjoy an Azorean gin in a gentle musical atmosphere, admiring the waves. It's hip, it's original, but above all, it's very good!
ADEGA ACORIANA
Read moreAt the very bottom of the village of Prainha, facing the ocean, a lava stone house and a large terrace host this friendly wine and tapas bar. On the menu, tapas of course, for a delightful taste of the island's gastronomy: octopus salad, grilled lapas, garlic prawns, meat rissois , a selection of cheeses and cold meats, all accompanied by a selection of Pico wines. The bar has an upstairs room, but we highly recommend enjoying your tapas to the sound of the waves, on the outdoor terrace. A real treat!
