Held by the Italian Raffaella and her companion Roland from Rodrigues, this delicious table is an opportunity to taste fresh local products cooked in the transalpine style. No menu, it is the mamma who regales according to the inspiration and the products of the day. You can have lunch or dinner in the garden, under the varangue, in a nice atmosphere half-creole and half-champel.

The house also houses two pretty rooms decorated with antique objects, furniture made by Roland, bouquets of flowers picked in the garden... Great care given to details and warm welcome.

Planted on the hill by the road leading to Pointe Coton and Saint-François, Basanio, named after its former chef who worked for twenty years in the luxury hotel business, is a gustatory, friendly and charming stopover; a place as warm as its sunny yellow front and the generosity of its dishes. On the slate, only fresh dishes: shrimp fritters, beef stew, crab soup... We opt for a kono-kono salad, sublime in its freshness and flavors, then for a tit carry of ourite and the house dessert: a succulent caramelized and flambéed pineapple ! Terrace.

This is one of the best restaurants on the island, a must for the flavour of the dishes and the kindness of Paulina, head chef at the Mourouk Ebony Hotel for 23 years, who now runs her own restaurant. You only have to read the menu and its poetic derivations to understand the love we have for each dish. So let yourself be tempted by the sea gondola and its little limes as a starter, before trying the pork curry and its cubes of manioc from the garden or a small grilled fish and its delicious roundness. This is the most stylish restaurant in Port Mathurin. At the helm are Frenchmen Romain and Isabelle, he a sommelier, she a decorator, both of them in love with this little piece of island. In a nice chic bistro atmosphere, they offer French cuisine that speaks Rodriguan (or the other way around) accompanied by beautiful bottles. The products are chosen in short circuit and the menu plays on the two soils via a selection of worked dishes (Trio of carpaccio, braised country ham...) or more classic (Farmhouse chicken-fries). Artisanal store on the spot.

At the end of the road to Saint-François, 100 meters from the beach, the former Mazavaroo has been taken over by a young couple who have rethought the style, decoration and menu. The place is now decorated with recycled materials and pretty tables scattered in the garden, in addition to the terrace in the shade. The menu, beyond the classics based on Rodriguan products (ourite or cono cono salad, pork chop, chicken leg...), proposes wood-fired dishes and more international flavors: Caesar salad, choice of home-made burgers and good pizzas. A place of sharing, exchange and conviviality, this café, just like the receptive of the same name, is meant to be an open space and a dynamic meeting point between Rodriguans and travelers passing through. An oasis in the heart of the city, it occupies the former parish priest of Port Mathurin (lounge area) and extends to a shaded terrace and a landscaped garden. The spirit of recovery inspires the decoration and the furniture. On the road leading to Pointe Coton, look for a pretty Creole hut with tables under a varangue and others scattered in the garden, next to the swing... It's there. In the plates, an honest local cuisine which varies every day according to the products of the market and the fishing: stewed crab, sausage rougaille, zourite curry, grilled lobster (when there is some, remember to ask for the price beforehand!), sausage rougaille... For real desserts or more elaborate dishes, reserve in advance. A typical address, at reasonable prices.

Perched atop the promontory overlooking the beach of Saint François, this cozy table is a refreshing stop on the famous Eastern Coastal Trail. We stop for a coffee, a beer, a lemonade, or to taste the local cuisine. No real menu, Dana concocts every day a few home-made dishes with the products of the market and of the fishery: salad or cary of octopus, chicken and French fries, shrimps... Two tables are sleeping under a small veranda, three others under straw huts in the sea air. Superb panorama.

This restaurant, which was considered the best in Anse-aux-Anglais, changed owners and since then it's been a yo-yo in terms of reviews. The table remains friendly, with a room dominated by wood and wicker and a terrace right on the coastal road, which is a bit busy at certain times of the day. However, the place is often full, rather lively on weekends, and one can drink good cocktails before tasting the ourites and other small local dishes made of fresh and spicy products. In a popular atmosphere, a wide range of dishes from Rodriguan, Mauritian, Chinese and European cuisines are prepared and served: fish, seafood, shellfish, lobster, etc., in all sauces and ways. The establishment has a good reputation among the locals even if the room is not really crazy. Very local atmosphere on game nights (flat screen TV) and musical entertainment (band) once a month. Also a bar with a nice cocktail menu.

In the depths of its valley, this restaurant stands out for the beauty of its natural environment, the care taken in the decoration, the charm of the garden, the immediate warmth of the room dressed in wood and carved stones. To offer a "farm to fork" experience, the products come from the farmyard and the pesticide-free vegetable garden, the aquaponics greenhouse or from sourced local suppliers. Everything is homemade, even the smoked fish, with a bias for healthy dishes, bold pairings and wood-fired cooking that exudes flavor.

Recently opened, this new restaurant is located at the northern entrance of Port Mathurin, a bit removed from the bustle of François Leguat street. Refreshed by a small breath of air, it consists of a large shaded terrace on stilts overlooking the river where the very first inhabitants settled. On the slate, the dishes of the day are chosen according to the fishing and the arrival of the producers. Fish, seafood, chicken and duck are cooked in the Rodrigues style, according to traditional recipes. A winning equation: the restaurant is always full!

Organized in several half-level spaces, the room is quite large and nevertheless overall warmer than the one in the restaurant next door. The menu offers a choice of fried mines and rice, and a selection of local products (fish, shrimps, octopus, chicken, pork) prepared in salads, curry, vindaye, rougaille, civet, sauté. Overall, everything is fresh, so everything is good and tasty as is often the case in Rodrigues. There is also an all-inclusive menu with octopus salad, potato salad, lobster and a drink, to be reserved in advance.

The simple setting does not detract from the occasional overexcited atmosphere of this large restaurant with a semblance of a dance floor, that is to say! Run by a team of young people, it welcomes holidaymakers and travelers, and most of the local kitesurfers, some of whom have made it their canteen or their base as it is also a gîte (rooms). No menu, the chef prefers to concoct a cuisine from the slate based on local products of the moment: grilled fish, ourite vindaye, chicken rougaille, crab curry... and ice cream for dessert.

Unique in Rodrigues, this is the only beach "resto" truly ON the beach, run with heart and soul by Tonio's daughter. The concept: 4 wooden posts and a raven roof for shade, a barbecue for grilling farm produce and fish, a few tables and chairs brought in from the late Tonio's house at the back... sand under your toes and the lagoon right in front. The experience: take a dip in the sea, chat, taste the day's special dishes, let time go by, sip a little arranged rum to celebrate the magic of the moment.

In the kitchen, Françoise Baptiste, disciple of Auguste Escoffier and author of a recipe book, Les Délices de Rodrigues, prepares typical dishes with local products: fish and shellfish from the lagoon, organic vegetables from the garden, poultry from the farmyard... a delight! She also prepares, on request, classics of the local gastronomy and lobster from the fishing grounds. Takeaway menu for hikers and dinner with guests under the veranda.

In the garden of Gravier Beach House, at the edge of the coastal road and the beach, a pretty creole hut in sunny yellow stands out against the green of the lawn. It welcomes the residents of the house and the hikers passing by with a local beer, a juice, a coffee or delicious small dishes of the Rodriguan cuisine prepared with great care - grilled fish, ourite, chicken in sauce, Creole desserts, etc. You can sit directly in the shade of a parasol, facing the sea, or under the bright varangue of the hut.
