Read morePadel - not to be confused with stand-up paddle - is a racket sport similar to tennis in the way it is played, but on a smaller court, and also to squash, as the balls can be played after bouncing off the wall. It is played on electric blue courts framed by glass and mesh, and the rackets are solid. Zanzibar now boasts two padel courts, associated with the new Breeze and Labili residences in Kiwengwa, illuminated by lights at night, when it's cooler to play.

Interesting holiday packages are available with lessons or equipment rental. You can also try out a kitefoil or windfoil, these new machines that seem to float on the water.

For those who like to glide, this new machine does not seem to have the same characteristics and its learning is different.

It is based in five hotels on the island, in Matemwe and Kiwengwa, as well as in Stone Town. The young, ultra-professional team is made up, in particular, of extremely well-trained locals for the various Padi levels. The program includes scuba diving and snorkeling in a dozen spots around the Mnemba atoll, where the water is so clear you can often see at 20 meters.
