HENRYS BAY HOUSE BAR & RESTAURANT

British restaurant €€
5/5
1 review

Henry's Bay is a very refined address where you are made to wait in the bar lounge while we prepare your order and your table. The cuisine is inventive and tasty. The menu offers fish, meat and vegetarian options. The service is impeccable and the small dishes are put in the big ones. The setting is clearly a plus, thanks to the beautiful views of the bay and a black & white decoration, embellished with a few chandeliers and paintings.

ROUTE 36

American restaurant
5/5
1 review

Route 36 loudly proclaims its American influences and serves food from across the Atlantic that is appreciated by locals and travelers alike. Burgers of all kinds are the spearhead of the menu, but you can also opt for a sandwich, hot dog, nachos, fajitasor salad. All this at a very reasonable price and in a relaxed atmosphere. The children have special dishes for them at even lower prices. Save room for a milkshake for dessert: banoffee flavor or toffee waffle? Don't forget to look at today's good shots.

THE CROWN INN

British restaurant €€
5/5
1 review

The Crown Inn is the favourite pub of the locals for eating and drinking. The menu is quite varied, with great classics such as fish & chips or cheese pasta, but also meats, burgers and even pizzas. The decoration is very Scottish and the atmosphere is as friendly as it is local. Beer lovers won't be outdone either. Indeed, the establishment was nominated by Lanarkshire's CAMRA Pub of the Year 2016, regional winner 2017 for West & Glasgow and was a finalist for the Great British Pub Awards in 2019.

VITO'S

Italian restaurant and pizzeria €€
5/5
1 review

This classic Italian address is located in the city's central square, just a few meters from the train station. She may not look like anything from the outside, but she knows how to seduce and retain her customers. It serves pasta, pizza, burgers, meat and fish, with very attractive lunchtime offers. The dishes are not necessarily very inventive, but there is a lot of choice and at good prices, all with flavours to match. The room upstairs is more suitable for dinners. The staff is friendly and warm.

STAGE DOOR CAFE

British restaurant €€
5/5
1 review

Within the Gaiety Theatre, here is a restaurant a little more sophisticated than what Ayr has to offer, to eat well at any time of the day. You come here for breakfast as well as for lunch or dinner and the menu mixes influences, not forgetting its Scottish roots. Everything is homemade, with rigorously selected local products, all served in generous portions. The menu changes regularly and the atmosphere remains relaxed, in a refined decoration, with a very friendly staff.

BLACKADDIE COUNTRY HOUSE HOTEL

British restaurant €€€

This restaurant will put stars in your eyes. The dishes are exquisitely fine and generous. No doubt it is the passion of Ian McAndrew, the multi-award winning chef of the establishment, and his undeniable talent for sublimating local products? The smoked salmon is an explosion of flavour, the Angus beef is incredibly tender? If you had to give an address where to discover Scottish-style gastronomy, it would undoubtedly be this one!

CARLO'S RESTAURANT

Italian restaurant and pizzeria €€
4/5
1 review

This family-run Italian address has been able to attract the favour of local residents, with its fresh and carefully prepared cuisine. Here, no pizzas, but dishes based on transalpine know-how: pasta, meat, fish? Established in 1988 by Carlo and Heather, it imports Italy to Scotland for a different culinary experience. The products are local, as much as possible, and the chef is uncompromising about the great freshness of the fish and seafood, with baked sea bass and mussels being among his specialities. Reservations can be helpful.

THE STEAM PACKET INN

British restaurant €€

This pub, right on the port of Isle of Whithorn, is recognised by CAMRA for the quality of its beers (Pub of the Year for the region in 2013), but also for the quality of its food and the variety of its whisky and wine list. The atmosphere is very local and familiar, with stone walls and maritime decoration. There is a restaurant area for a slightly more formal setting, and a pleasant waterfront terrace for sunny days. The menu changes every day and consists of local and seasonal products.

CAVENS ARMS

British restaurant €€
4/5
1 review

The Cavens Arms is a great address in Dumfries! Systematically re-elected best local pub every year by the Camra, he held the title from 2006 to 2012, and won it again in 2015. The food is as typical as it is generous, with nice portions of meat, fish, curry, burgers and more. At the bar, there are up to ten real ales, which makes it the place to be, both for eating and drinking. The decoration is simple but classic, with carpet, benches and paintings. Attention: no restaurant service on Mondays.

CONNOR’S

1 review

Connor's is Portpatrick's most adored restaurant, especially for its excellent fish and seafood dishes, but also for its meats and stir-fries. The food is fresh and well presented, making it an ideal place to discover the flavours and craftsmanship of the region, in a simple and classic version. In addition, there is a wide choice of beers and spirits. The location on the port, facing the cliffs, doesn't spoil anything either. The warm welcome and the friendly atmosphere are also worth mentioning.

THE CASTLE RESTAURANT

Local scallops with black pudding, chicken with bacon, haggis and whisky, roast duck with orange and triple-sec: the choice leaves one dreaming and the locals are not mistaken. It is one of the most popular restaurants, both for the quality of the dishes prepared with local products and for the friendly welcome and impeccable service. The Castle Restaurant is a very reputable address for dining in the city in a relaxed setting, right in front of the castle. It's best to book on busy nights.

THE GLOBE INN

British restaurant €€

This was one of Robert Burns' favourites when he stayed in Dumfries. Although it has evolved and been renovated since then, it has kept its soul and a beautiful authenticity. The poet's unconditional admirers will even be able to sit where he sat and recite a few verses from his pen, as he did himself. In the kitchen, the establishment has called upon chefs familiar with starred restaurants, for a very appreciable quality. On the bar side, we will mention the 250 or so whiskies, but also the wide choice of beers and cocktails.
