Whithorn Priory is the end point of this thousand year old pilgrimage route, which has recently been revived with the creation of a guidebook (available for £12). It is divided into 13 segments, which will be as many ideas for a walk if you are in the area. Each one is marked by remarkable buildings, both architecturally and historically. The itinerary follows existing walking and cycling paths, coastal trails or passes through little-used secondary roads.

The Galloway Forest Park can be discovered very well by bike, especially as it is a mountain bike spot: tracks, descents, special bike routes... There are many hiking routes and ideas in the region! Thus Kirroughtree and Glentrool, two sites of Newton Stewart, are among the famous 7stanes, known to mountain bike enthusiasts. There are trails for all levels, marked like ski slopes, from green to black. With the family, a departure from Glentrool, which offers an accessible walk on a forest road, is preferable.

It is considered one of the most demanding and prestigious courses. Old Course, very windy, is a real challenge. The Portland route is more accessible. Visitors are welcome, but under certain conditions: minimum age 12 years, minimum level, dress code to be respected. Reservation in advance is mandatory.
