LES FINES GUEULES
Read moreOne of our favorite addresses in the beautiful Pays de Herve, amidst the orchards of the plateau. The chef clearly likes to cook with an exotic touch: vegetarian wok with noodles and crunchy vegetables, grilled and spicy Thai beef salad, lamb mouse confit and tajine-style vegetables... We're fans of this cuisine, which moves from bistronomy to zenitude. The wine list caters for all price ranges. There's also a magnificent south-facing terrace on the garden lawn. The large dining room is also very welcoming. A must-try establishment.
LE MOULIN DU VAL DIEU
Read moreThe restaurant at Le Moulin is an impressive sight in front of the abbey. In the tasting rooms, tavern and terrace on the first floor, you'll enjoy plates garnished with local produce such as Herve or des Moines cheeses, served under cloche, as well as vol-au-vent or omelette du Val, a delicacy washed down with a beer. All are happy to meet here: loyal lovers of the place, locals and tourists alike. A great Belgian getaway, whatever your choice of stop. Don't forget to take a look at the mill's impressive trough wheel.
LE COCHON EMBOUTEILLÉ
Read moreIts name comes from the first owner, whose father was a veterinarian. She is said to have put a pig fetus in a jar of formaldehyde! In April 2017, Thierry Vanbrabant and his wife Sandra took over this old establishment dating back to 1747. They kept the name - but not the jar! - and decided to fit out the rooms with exposed beams and a vaulted cellar. The menu is traditional, with homemade dishes and, wherever possible, local produce. It's best to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
LE FLORIAN
Read moreOn the Place de Battice, young chef Florian, barely a quarter of a century old, offers a fixed menu and suggestions that evolve according to the market. While the dishes are traditional, the way they are presented is much more daring and modern. You'll also find stone-cured meats, burgers, fish, the inevitable boulets liégeois and everything you need to please everyone without breaking the bank. The opening hours are deliberately extended at lunchtime to offer a convivial place where you can finish your meal at your leisure.
I LOVE BURGER
Read moreThe burgers, with their humorous names (Dikkenek, Federer, Bollywood...) come in a variety of flavours: with the famous "Giant" sauce, Italian or Indian and even vegetarian. Not forgetting the "burger of the month". All the burgers are served with fries at will! The menu also offers suggestions such as beef carpaccio, all-you-can-eat spare ribs and some salads. The decoration, which is difficult to describe, is both trendy and old-fashioned, rock'n'roll and cosy, all with a lot of taste just like on the plates!
L'ÉPICURIEN
Read moreAt the helm is Sébastien Brela, who cut his teeth at Charmes-Chambertin. His cuisine is subtle and full of flavor, using the finest produce, often from the Herve region. The service is as elegant as the menu, which changes every two months. Meat and fish are given pride of place, but vegetarians are not forgotten, with options for starters and main courses. On Wednesday and Thursday evenings, a menu available in addition to the usual formulas allows diners to sample the chef's three-course cuisine, with aperitif, wine and coffee included.
L'AUTOBUS
Read moreAnother great place to eat! This is the other restaurant of Stockis, the former owner of the famous Chez Lequet in Liège. His sister Marie is at the helm. The atmosphere is identical and the meatballs are just as good... It's said to be one of the best places to prepare goose, just like Visé. Mussel lovers are not to be outdone... and the fries are delicious! In Visé, Stockis has succeeded in imposing a "bon franquette" Liège atmosphere, with no fuss or muss! Le Petit Futé approves.
LE FOURQUET
Read moreAn old house with an old-fashioned interior, where the fireplace, old floors and exposed beams create a warm atmosphere, where you can enjoy traditional, well-crafted French cuisine. Specialties (homemade foie gras, calf's head, knuckle of ham), salads, but also daily specials at union prices, a great way to enjoy a hearty, tasty lunch. There's always a great atmosphere in this front bar. The thirty-seat terrace is ideally positioned for enjoying the sunshine in the peaceful village of Thimister.
TEL PÈRE TELLES FILLES
Read moreContemporary frame and graphic plates form here... a pair just as we like them. Franck and his daughters develop their love for the local culture, wines and cheeses. In addition to a menu featuring the region's producers, the wine cellar is well stocked and a maturing cellar of the local star. Franck has even developed a "herve" matured in Vacqueyras (wine from the Rhone village twinned with Herve), closing the loop in his own way. In the inner courtyard, two terraces also invite you to sip a cocktail in a lounge atmosphere.
L'ÉCHAPPÉE BELLE
Read moreGrégory Laeremans has opened his restaurant, assisted by Maxime in the dining room and as sommelier. The focus is clearly on gastronomy, with a strong organic connotation, particularly for vegetables. Vegetables are adapted to the seasons, as is foie gras, which the chef also likes to work with. From the bread to the garnish, absolutely everything is made in-house. As for the wine list, it boasts some sixty organic or integrated wines. The wines come from France, Italy and Belgium.
