MARCHÉ FLOTTANT
Read moreThe Marché Flottant was created in the 1960s, initiated by René Légier after a trip to Bangkok. Since then, every 1ᵉʳ Sunday in August, merchants in traditional costume go from one bank of the Sorgue to the other aboard their Nègo-chin (flat-bottomed boats) to sell fruit and vegetables, cheeses and bouquets of flowers. At the end of the market, around 1pm, they gather to sing the Coupo Santo, the hymn of the Félibrige. A picturesque spectacle that draws huge crowds. Get there early if you want a front-row seat.
