RESTAURANT LES MARRONNIERS
Read moreThe restaurant Les Marronniers takes its name from the century-old chestnut trees in the village square. Here, Claudine and Jean-Luc Viala have been working for nearly thirty years in accordance with French gastronomic traditions and above all with the products of their region. Jean-Luc, in the kitchen, regularly changes his menu according to the seasons. Among other things, he offers you a hot foie gras with spicy wine and you can tell us about it! And this is only the beginning, because it is followed by a delicious old-fashioned duck confit, lamb sweetbreads with morels, veal kidneys in old wine, to finish with a generous frozen truffle in a nougatine basket and orange juice. Everything is of course cooked with the greatest care! This is normal, since Jean-Luc Viala is part of the Cuisineries Gourmandes. The carte blanche to the chef is accompanied by a different glass of wine depending on the dishes. The products are purchased at local markets. The interior room has been completely renovated, in chocolate, modern colours, decorated with original paintings and frescoes by local artists, and the terrace under the chestnut trees is still very pleasant. Very good rating for the welcome and service.
LE REFUGE RESTAURANT BAR
Read moreAt the entrance to Pierrefitte and just next to the tropical aquarium, this restaurant is well known to regular visitors who come in large numbers at noon, an opportunity for them to hear the latest news from the village and the surrounding area. The discussions are passionate and smell of the southwest. Here the cuisine is simple, well presented and made with local products. A wide choice is available. Homemade foie gras and local meats reign supreme if you want to make in the real land, the local lamb is always an effective formula! Depending on the products on the market, you can enjoy a beef carpaccio marinated in sheep's cheese, a delicious fisherman's papillote and as a delicacy we advise you to try a vanilla bourbon crème brûlée or a Bavarian with blueberries: real delights. The welcome is very friendly and ensures a beautiful atmosphere in an establishment whose spirit and menus we like: do not hesitate!

HOSTELLERIE DE LA REINE HORTENSE

Hidden in the Cauterets Valley, Hostellerie de la Reine Hortense bears the name of one of its most famous hosts: in the eighteenth century, the queen of Napoleon and mother of Napoleon III came to take the waters in Cauterets would have slept a night of thunderstorm. In 1941, Basque refugees hidden there and indoors, frescoes testify to the cruelty of the Second World War. Restored in 1973, they add an artistic note to this high-altitude restaurant. The master of the premises, Pierre Duthu, offers a traditional and tasty cuisine that makes the meat a great part of the wood. Coast of beef, lamb, skewers to 4 meat including lomo, duck duck: We love these roasted specialties with fresh potatoes and fungi. Other options such as the excellent house garnish, pickle tomatoes, or the juran trout filet are real delicacies. Pancakes, blueberries or Grand-Marnier or an ice-cold nougat finish a great meal in a warm and warm setting.
