Vercors water quality inspires brewers. Located at the foot of the Col de la Machine, La Machine craft and cooperative brewery creates organic hopped beers. The founders are Sylvain Billet, with 10 years' experience in the beer business, and Rami Dahdah, a former employee of an organic farmers' store and founder of the Bieristan beer bar. Domaine des Grandes Tours is a producer of Beaujolais wines. For several decades, it has offered red, white and rosé wines in bottles and bag-in-box. The domaine favors a traditional production method, growing two grape varieties, Gamay and Chardonnay. The grapes are grown on clay-limestone soils in the Lucenay region. To limit the impact on the environment, the winemakers have developed grass cover in the vines and use biocontrol products and alternative methods. The estate is HVE3 certified. Residents of Villefranche-sur-Saône, Lyon and the Beaujolais region can buy quality, value-for-money wines direct from the producer.
