This artificial water reservoir, for recreational purposes, follows the construction of an earthen dam 200 m long and about 20 m high. It was put in water in 1975 on the site of peat bogs and former marshy meadows fed by the springs of the Eyrieux. This 50 ha lake is today an ecosystem of great biodiversity. In summer, the leisure center offers many nautical, sports and educational activities: sailing school, fishing, horse-drawn carriage rides, nature trail... Camping on site.

As a result of global warming at high altitude, this glacier - one of Europe's largest skiable glaciers - is losing its thickness, making it impossible to ski in July and August. So, depending on conditions, it's a late spring/early summer opening to enjoy this unique site. After taking the Jandri Express and a sub-glacial funicular, you can climb the Dôme de Puy-Sallié to an altitude of 3,421 metres, opening up a superb panorama from the Belvédère des Écrins. CARRÉ D'EAU

Swimming pools
4/5
2 reviews

A swimming pool equipped with a paddling pool, a playful pool, a slide and a sports pool and outside, in summer, a swimming pool, a pentaglisse, playgrounds and a bar, the opening of Carré d'Eau, in 2007, was an event expected by the Burgiens. It is rather a good equipment, but it suffers from some imperfections. A victim of its success, the 25 m sports pool often lacks water lines to satisfy all swimmers. The outdoor recreation pool suffers from the same sub-design with only two water lines of 50 m caught from the blast. It is better to target the least busy slots. During the cold season, changing rooms like ponds, fed by the city's wood boiler, are certainly ecological, but not very hot. And it is better to provide a good bathrobe for the bath exit. At long last, the staff will be informed if all aircraft in the spa area, whose occasional breakdowns are not always well reported, are working before paying a supplement.

ESPACE DIAMANT

The Espace Diamant ski area comprises 6 village resorts, including the charming Praz-sur-Arly, with a skiable area stretching from 1,000 to 2,069 meters above sea level, between the Beaufortain massif, the Val d'Arly and the Mont-Blanc region: 192 kilometers of downhill skiing, 170 trails, 82 lifts, 123 kilometers of Nordic skiing, as well as 5 snowparks and 3 boardercrosses make up this vast winter sports area, which is more than equal to the biggest in the Alps. Located 4 kilometers from Megève, the Praz-sur-Arly ski area focuses on family activities that are accessible to all: downhill and Nordic skiing, and new winter sports. Nostalgic skiers will appreciate an introduction to the yooner, the modernized version of the paret, a toboggan with one runner, or ski joëring, pulled by a horse. The ski school runs a "snow garden" area for ages 3 and up. From the age of 8, snowshoeing is the perfect way to discover animal tracks. More unusual and for all ages, a hot-air balloon flight over the Alps for an unforgettable day. For those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground and watch the majestic ballet of the balloons, the "montgolfiades" bring the resort to life every January. In summer, the Espace Diamant opens its trails to mountain bikers, trail runners and hikers, who enjoy a unique panorama of the Mont-Blanc chain. A sparkling, multi-faceted area, like a Diamond, an exceptional outdoor playground for vacations in all seasons.

OLYMPIQUE LYONNAIS

Football
4/5
1 review

Olympique Lyonnais was born in May 1950, the bearer of two clubs: FC Lyon, a historic club that participated in the first final of the French Cup, and LOU, whose soccer section is called Lyon Olympic. After the Second World War, football in Lyonnais looks for a second breath, given by a group of round ball enthusiasts who create Olympique Lyonnais. The team plays with a white jersey with red and blue colours of the city of Lyon for the first time on August 27 th, 1950 in Gerland. From the first season, the OL is France's champion of D 2 and access to the elite. The seasons follow and do not look like the results are not always equal to expectations. The first trophy, a French Cup, was won in 1964. The 1960 s announced the arrival of a great club in the French championship and great players go through Gerland: Chiesa, Lacombe, Domenech, Bowl, Di Nallo or Chauveau. In 1976, the OL lost the final of the French Cup to Marseille, before starting a descent to the D 2. In 1983, after 28 years of the elite, the OL went down. The club has trouble recovering and settling in D 2. In distress, the OL discovers an ambitious man, arriving with a plan to lead the D 2 club to the European Cup in the next five years: Jean-Michel Aulas. Five years after its descent, the OL returned to the D 1 in 1989. A true renaissance is beginning and the most skeptical are obliged to recognize the talents of Jean-Michel Aulas and his team. At the dawn of the st century, the team strengthens and recruits a Brazilian magician named Sonny Anderson. From the 2000/2001 season, the OL won the League Cup, its first trophy since 1973. And the titles will follow. The OL won 7 French champion titles (from 2002 to 2008), wins 2 French Cups (2008 and 2012) and 1 League Cup (2001). The Champions of the League, including a semi-finals in 2010, lost against Bayern in Munich. The club, led by Jean-Michel Aulas, continues the beautiful adventure with his men's team, but also with a female team, the only one in France to have won a triple League of Champions, Championship and National Cup. Since the beginning of 2016, the OL has been evolving at the Olympique Lyonnais in Caudataires (now named the Groupama Stadium), a magnificent complex dedicated to football.

Golf course

Located in the south of the Rhône department - we are no longer in the Metropolis -, at Saint-Symphorien-d'Ozon, the Lyon-Verger golf course was created in 1977 on an orchard from which it has kept some trees. This Lyon-Verger golf course, playable all year round, offers two fairly narrow courses, playable all year round: "Le Verger" (18 holes - Par 70 - 5,502 m) is undulating with greens well defended by judiciously placed bunkers. "Le Pré9" (9 holes - Par 33) is a technical course with two ponds, requiring you to work on your short game.
