As a result of global warming at high altitude, this glacier - one of Europe's largest skiable glaciers - is losing its thickness, making it impossible to ski in July and August. So, depending on conditions, it's a late spring/early summer opening to enjoy this unique site. After taking the Jandri Express and a sub-glacial funicular, you can climb the Dôme de Puy-Sallié to an altitude of 3,421 metres, opening up a superb panorama from the Belvédère des Écrins. Pedestrian access for a unique walk on the heights.
