Originally, this museum was the dream of the Association Le Chaudron, which aimed to present its collections within a museum, in order to make them discover them to as many people as possible. In 1993, after five years of construction, the museum finally opened its doors. Since then, it has welcomed thousands of visitors in a 1,500 ^m2 space divided into three parts. Most of the museum is used to display steam engines, cars and trucks from rural life. The second is used as a miniature shop and documentation centre. Finally, a specific place is dedicated to the maintenance and, above all, to the restoration of rare pieces, which can sometimes exceed a hundred years old.

In the Mâcon competition of 1874, Emile Puzenat was awarded a first prize for an invention that would greatly facilitate the work of the fields: La En, Mr Puzenat will have at his disposal, a few years later, the creation of another revolutionary tool: horse rake. Thus, this museum presents an industrial retrospective of the Puzenat plant from 1882 to 1956 which revolutionized the farming world by facilitating the work of farmers. An exhibition complemented by many wooden tools of the time (over 400 transplanted).

This museum was created in 1861 to accommodate the most significant Roman and medieval architectural elements (very beautiful fragments of tents and cornices), often too voluminous to be placed at the Rolin Museum. The stone museum is set in the ancient Romanesque chapel Saint-Nicolas, with the apse of the apse, adorned with a great Christ (th century fresco). The romantic garden is ideal for the scenes and lighting of the torchlight during the Night of Museums.

As a historic and gourmet town counting more than 6,000 inhabitants located halfway between Mâcon and Chalon-sur-Saône, Tournus, called the Door of the South, boasts 4 starred restaurants! You should not especially miss to visit the Saint-Philibert abbey, the Sainte-Madeleine church, the Saint-Laurent chapel, the Saint-Valérien church and the Musée du Vélo which recalls the little queen's history!

This beautiful structure allows the lateral canal to cross the Loire. He's 243 meters tall. Built from 1834 to 1838 by the engineers Adolphe Jullien and Jean-Joseph Vigoureux, it was enlarged in 1870 and redesigned between 1890 and 1896. Only boats or pedestrians have access to it.

Designed by Fabienne and Joël Bourras, Jardin sans secrets is a 12,000^m2 site, divided into complementary plots. Nature is directed here, but above all it is respected, with a concern for biodiversity. Wild areas, an orchard, an edible garden, an arboretum, a pond and an English garden are all part of this universe of endemic plants or, on the contrary, plants brought back from travels. The couple plant some 300 plants a year. Here, you can stroll, enjoy a cup of tea or a picnic, sleep in a small gîte or park your camper van.

The Moulin musée de Ménetreuil, an imposing building on the Sane river, has had several lives. It has now been restored to its 1950s state. It's a fine museographic achievement, providing an insight into the milling world of the time. Millstones, hoppers and grinders are still in place. The fun, interactive tour continues with the theme of water and its importance in human society.

The first building dates back to the tenth Century before being restored in the fifteenth century and enlarged in the sixteenth century by Bauffremont-Sennecey. The castle has managed to escape the demolitions of the seventeenth century initiated by Rochelieu. During the French Revolution, it was dismantled by the municipality and was replaced by the church of Sennecey. Nothing is left of this castle except the bastion surrounding wall.

Today, the town hall is located in the former outbuildings of the castle and the Tourist Office, in the old buildings.

The museum area of this dream train plunges you into the history of the Paris-Lyon-Mediterranean railway. Through a beautiful staging, you will discover a collection of more than 300 period objects, scenes of life retracing the golden age of the rails from 1880 to 1950. You can see scenes from the life of the PLM, soldiers leaving or returning from the two world wars, and a collection of objects from the trenches: vases, lighters, and other things made with artillery shells by the soldiers while they were waiting in the trenches. In the middle of the countryside but only a few minutes from the charming town of Autun. The 1910 steam loco reminds us that all this was running, only the whistle is missing. A beautiful immersion!

To discover Mâcon on the water, embark on board the terrace boat "Fantaisie Evasion" for a stroll across the water of 1 hour and a half. Departure from the marina of Mâcon and direction north to discover the Saint-Jean island. While returning through the diversion canal, you will see the bridge of Geneva, the river port of Darse, the Mitterrand bridge before going along the city to the edges of the Lamartine esplanade, under the Saint-Laurent bridge and finally back to the port. You can bring your lunchbox on board.

Boat and bike trip along the Voie Bleue

It is pleasant to practise cycling along the Voie Bleue between Mâcon and Fleurville. Enjoy yourself with friends or family. Ferme des Bien Vivants, located in Champlecy, is a cheese dairy specializing in the production of goat's milk cheeses. The owners, Cécile Jacob, Matthieu Hennion and Etienne Cacheux, are passionate about their craft, and are involved in every stage of production, from raising the goats to marketing the products. In addition to goat cheeses, the farm also offers other products such as terrines made from goat and pork meats, intense cream made from goat's milk and soaps made from goat's milk. A th century private historic monument, La Ferté is one of Cistercian abbeys. The location of the Germain Palace now houses guest rooms. From the beginning of 2020, these two emblematic companies of their region of Saône-et-Loire, the mining area for the Perrin hosiery factory and the Charolais for the Dufoux chocolates, will be holding a very special day for you. Both have decided to open their doors to the public in order to showcase their know-how. Discovery of manufacturing techniques, stories of the houses and their creators, tastings, workshops, etc. A day that can be done in the order that you wish but that you can recommend at the start of the Perrin company, the afternoon being conducive to gourmet delights. After a visit of about 45 minutes and an essential visit through the hosiery's factory shop, visitors go to Charolles, either with their personal vehicle or by bus (to be reserved for at least 10 people). They have the possibility to choose the formula with meal by stopping at the eponymous restaurant, then after a traditional lunch, join the Dufoux chocolate factory. The discovery and tasting of these little chocolate wonders is done throughout a very instructive visit of about 1 hour, in the very heart of the manufacturing unit. A visit to the shop allows everyone to leave with these treasures and gourmet souvenirs. An unusual destination that combines culture and delicacies in a region that supports ancestral know-how and makes these two companies real monuments to be preserved.
