No pretensions here, we are maintaining the good old-fashioned recipes of yesteryear and that is fine. A tavern that offers dishes, without fuss, like at home. The service is also straightforward, simply pleasant.

Small family tavern held by an expert in Cretan cuisine in a small courtyard planted with trees. She's on the edge of the road, but it's more quiet than on the harbor. For a quiet evening.

Sofia is a Cretan tavern of very high quality. Tourists based in the village use it as a canteen, as the prices are reasonable and the quality is high. The tavern also offers hearty breakfasts, with hot toast and coffee in the morning. Fruit juices are exclusively fresh! Fanari's major asset is its panoramic and plunging view on the Caldeira from one of its 3 terraces. Two brothers are the owners of the place and they are the ones who fish with their boat off Paleohora, a family tradition (as shown by the family photos in the back room). You can choose your own fish in the kitchen among other dishes, including vegetarian ones. Ask for the price per kilo in order to avoid a bad surprise at the time of the bill: fresh fish is always more expensive!

The Avli restaurant is a small oasis set in the courtyard of an old house: one appreciates the setting, above all. It offers very good Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, at very reasonable prices, hence the rush that can explode in high season: we recommend booking in the early evening. Otherwise, it's better to get there late to escape the well-informed crowd. Try a traditional dish, such as lamb stamnas, cooked for several hours in the oven. A charming couple welcomes you in this small restaurant located in the main square of the pretty village of Kritsa. Traditional Greek dishes are served here: souvlaki, mixed meat, fried meatballs, cheese puff pastry, kebabs... all accompanied by dakos (toasted bread with tomatoes, feta, oregano and Kritsa olive oil). On Isternia Beach, Chef Antonia Zarpa's elegant restaurant is considered one of the best restaurants in Tinos. Feet in the water (beware of the waves!), you will taste a traditional cuisine revisited and original, based on fresh and organic products as much as possible. The speciality, to try with your eyes closed: the tarama with cuttlefish ink.
