11 reviews

Situated on the Jacques Coeur road, this feudal castle was fortified by Gillon de Seuly, founder of the city, at the end of the th century. Surrounded by a moat, surrounded by round towers, a dungeon and dominated by a pond, it is furnished and inhabited but opened to the public. Count Jean of Ogny, owner of the castle, opened his doors and commented on his own visit to the residence where the lords of La Chapelle-d'Angillon, princes of Boisbelle, but also Sully, Princess of Albret, Princess of Kleve (who served as a model to Ms de La Fayette for her famous novel), Gonzague prince of Boisbelle or the Duke from Nevers. Inside, the visit allows you to see all the pieces, distributed by narrow stairs. This romantic castle houses a unique and quite astonishing collection in Europe on the th century Albania. Sunday mass can be seen in the beautiful castle chapel traditionally celebrated every Sunday at 10 pm. Reception is worthy of the great hospital tradition. The passions of the owners animate these places and they will make you discover their coups. The castle can be rented for weddings or other ceremonies.

Victorine House offers a journey over time, discovering Aubigny. The annual exhibitions present souvenirs and objects gathered by the fans of the city's contemporary history. Every year a carefully chosen research theme allows you to trace the life of the city a while ago. It's all the more so because the proximity trade is going on in this albino land, which adds to the charm of the proposed themes! Documents, objects, various anecdotes, songs, postcards, photos plunge us into the memory of Aubigny, the Franco-Scottish, ensuring every year an exhibition in the authentic context of a house of the sixteenth century.

ECOMUSEUM OF THE BRENNE

Ecomuseum
4.4/5
5 reviews

This museum tells all Brenne. It offers a superb collection of over 800 birds of all sizes and presents life in the old Brenne. It contains geological studies of a region's prehistorian and models of rural houses. The presentation of metallurgical activity, from the Gallic era to the large forges, is very pedagogical (animated model). It describes the system of ponds and the activities of this wetland. Admire the great model of the Naillac castle, as it should be in the xve century. And enjoy the view of the city. Temporary exhibition from July to September.

MUSEUM EASTERN

Restored and built in a museum, the Hotel des Echevins houses the works of Maurice Estève (1904-2001). This painter from Culan donated to the city of Bourges a remarkable set of pieces representative of the evolution of his work. The artist's research and questioning, as well as his confrontation and participation in the artistic movements of the twentieth century, can be traced in chronological order. Little by little, abstraction replaces the figurative, its vision of the world thickens, light and balance impregnate its compositions. Estève began painting at the earliest age and only stopped in 1998. An amateur of great masters like Fouqet, Cézanne, Poussin or Uccello, he drew inspiration from his inspiration to feed his work throughout his life. The beautiful course of the museum is enhanced by the exceptional surroundings of the three floors of the Hotel des Echevins.

THE MUSEUM OF THE TRADES OF YESTERYEAR

A stage of the Jacques Coeur Road, the Museum des Métiers is established within the Silver Castle built in the xiiith century and has an elegant park where the promenade rhymes with pleasure, it is a beautiful domed nature drawn by the botanist and encyclopedist Duhamel of Montceau. Located just on its side, the Saint-André church, classified as a historic monument in 1944, built in the xiiith century and restored in 1892 by Octave Guérin, is pleasantly placed at the Trade Museum. Completely atypical, it proposes on three levels spaces recreating workshops of craftsmen of iron, fire and wood such as charron, cordier, blacksmith, dinandier, sabotage, sweetheart, joiner, carpenter, brass, brass, joiner, carpenters… fleurir the various traditions of architecture in France have disappeared well. This stated, a big thank you to the municipality that managed to preserve this construction coquette and its park, acquiring it in 1957, thus, by ricochet, embraced the motto of the Museum: Anyone who forgets his past is condemned to do so again. It would be wrong to forget to mention the magnificent collection of butterflies and birds in a room dedicated to Father Théophile Moreux (1867-1954), famous priest astronomer argentais.

Like most of the houses on Grande-Rue in the upper town, the house of the Friends of the White dates from the 15th century. It is a small museum of art and popular traditions that evokes daily life in the 19th and early 20th centuries. There is the reconstruction of a Berry interior, the craftsmanship of the clog and shoemakers, the washers, the apothecary, the school of Jules Ferry, the bicycles in memory of the Dilecta bicycle factory. There is also a new exhibition featuring the Blançois cycle industry and the Dilecta professional sports team. Passionate volunteers take visitors on a tour of the museum.
