Léré is an old port located on the Loire. The municipality is close to the Belleville nuclear power station. This makes it the residential area of some of the staff of this plant. She keeps the charm of a small dynamic city. Léré is located in the heart of the Berry Roman Road. Its church (the collegiate Saint-Martin) has a crypt that can be visited. Its imposing dimensions contrast with the size of the commune, rather small. But collegiate played an important role in history because it was the retreat of the Chapter of Tours during the Norman invasions. This is where the relics of Saint Martine were sheltered twice. The crypt dates from the eleventh century and the Romanesque side door of the xiith century. It is contemporary of the Romanesque nef without a transepts with its porch. The Gothic door is later. In 1569, the collegiate was burned by the Protestants. She then left open for two centuries owing to lack of means for his restoration. The tympan, damaged, remains surprising because the last judgment is not represented there.
