This small town of nearly 1,300 inhabitants, named after Saint Mélan or Saint Mélaine, bishop of Rennes from 505 to 530, is nestled in the heart of the Pays du Roi Morvan, upstream from the "Roches du Diable", on the edge of Finistère and 20 minutes from Lorient. As rich culturally as architecturally, the town also offers many leisure activities: fishing, canoeing and kayaking on the international course of the "Roches du Diable" site or hiking and biking.
