PÂTISSERIE LE DANIEL
Read moreMaison Le Daniel celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2023! For the occasion, it has created new limited-edition desserts. The holiday menu is always eagerly awaited. The creations of master pastry chef-chocolatier Laurent Le Daniel (MOF in pastry-making) can be enjoyed in the tearoom or at home. The Heart of Brittany is one of the house's best-sellers, a typically Breton cake with salted butter caramel, chocolate and a crunchy hazelnut cookie. We also confess to an addiction to caramel spread on crêpes - it's divine! On the catering side, brochettes, petits fours, mini-sandwiches, rustic canapés and pyramids of macaroons are a delight at all our events.
DURAND CHOCOLATIER
Read moreSince 1987, Durand Chocolatier has been making numbered chocolates with unchanging recipes that are secretly kept. In its Empire style attire and cocoa decor, the shop is not lacking in style! The first thing you'll notice is the 41 little squares placed behind the counter. All of them compete in quality and finesse, such as the "Compagnie des Indes" (n° 35) whose woody spice alliance is striking. The n° 36, with seaweed, is the most oceanic of all. We also discover the famous cake inspired by the Breton poisoner Hélène Jégado.

LA CALE AUX ÉPICES
Read moreLa Cale aux épices is making a much-appreciated entry into the heart of Rennes. After creating the Comptoir aux épices in Paimpol in 2014 and the Vannes shop in 2018, it is with the same passion that Christophe Lemaire, a backpacker at heart and a fine connoisseur of spices, has joined the Breton capital. The shop, which is run daily by Marven, a native of Sri Lanka, has no less than 85 peppers and berries, flavoured curries as well as various blends that are ground, roasted and assembled with care in the Paimpol lab. The shop is a true ode to a journey of the senses, but above all it shows a desire to share and to provide quality at low prices.

Try the cuttlefish ink bread or the Bigouden bread, a real Proust's madeleine for Finistériens. Take a trip across the Channel with chiffon cake or Irish bread. We continue in Sweden with kanel bullar, a cinnamon brioche. Coffee, flour, fruit, honey, eggs... The boutique works with local producers, and the majority of products are organic!

So we come here once or twice a week to pick up fresh vegetables from the Pipriac market gardener, stock up on pasta, legumes and bulk seeds, good organic bread and even micro-foams. The products come from some twenty local producers. We also discovered the organic zero-waste detergents from solide.bzh. A great address that we'll be sharing by word of mouth without hesitation!

LA TRINITAINE
Read moreTrinitaine is the perfect place to find the small Breton sweetness to offer or a souvenir of the region. This boutique has everything you can dream of and that makes us saliver in the area of Breton products. The address, which has been in place for many years between the central Halles and the Colombier Center, offers an enormous choice of products from the Breton region and the sea, the latter being the specialty of this chain which, after the beginnings of the first store, was founded in Brittany in 1955, from where it has its name. In the grocery store, you will find proven - and approved - products by many consumers: cotriade, sardines prepared according to dozens of recipes (notably to whisky Breton and algae), mackerel, sea terrines, crustacean mosses… There is also a spaceship radius, with Quimper's earthenware, utensils to prepare themselves pancakes and cakes, and traditional Breton bowls on the first name of their owner. The tasting baskets make ideal gift ideas before picking up the train for Montparnasse. And to accompany all this, boxes with the Breton craft beers, and in addition to the cigars and vitrean pommeons, a selection of liqueurs with berries, the Strawgastel strawberries, and the inevitable chouchen! A very good choice of handicraft products, well developed in this pleasant boutique in which tourists and Bretons come to delight with authentic specialties. Salidou, cakes, madeleines, jams, pallets, kouign amann, niniches…
YVAN CHEVALIER
Read moreAfter working in the Nantes region for more than ten years, Yvan Chevalier, Meilleur Ouvrier de France chocolatier-confiseur since 2019, set up shop in the Breton capital in 2021. A return to his roots for the artisan, and yet another opportunity for us to come and taste his creations. The chocolate boxes offer a palette of old-fashioned pralines and subtle ganaches. It's also easy to fall for the chocolate-covered Madagascar vanilla marshmallow bears. We finish with a divinely balanced pastry. We're particularly fond of the signature chou, which changes with the seasons: light, low in sugar and very gourmet. Discover it on site or order online!
