60 km northeast of Tanta. Mansourah was built on the Damietta branch of the Nile in 1221. In 1249, it was within its walls that Louis IX was defeated by Turan Shah, son of Chagaret el-Dorr and the last of the Ayyubids. He was captured and released for a ransom of 200,000 pounds.Saint Louis Prison. This is the name of a house located in the city center, near the El-Mouafik mosque.Shinnawi Palace.
