Located 150 km from Alexandria, Tanta is the largest city in the Nile Delta. It was the seat of a Byzantine metropolitan and retains its rank among the cities of the Coptic period. Its mill of Sayid Ahmed el-Badawi is one of the best known in Egypt. One of the great Egyptian playwrights, Tawfick el-Hakim, who was then an examining magistrate in Tanta, contributed greatly to the city's fame. One can get there by train, about ten departures every day to Tanta, from Cairo or Alexandria. But also by bus, with the company West Delta. Or even by taxi, but on condition that you do not travel at night on the farm road
