In the Tsiribihina delta, Kivalo is a group of villages north of Morondava, just after the Allée des Baobabs. This mangrove area is rich in biodiversity and is home to many species of birds, some of which are endemic, 8 types of mangroves and mammals, including the nocturnal microcebes lemurs (difficult to see, however). The WWF is behind a community project protecting this extraordinary ecosystem. Kivalo is home to an organization of 250 members that manages the 5,000 ha of mangroves and where the inhabitants are involved in the protection of the land. Finally, the Rasindy is a funerary art to discover here.
