Located some 60 km north of Morondava (2h to 2h30 by car), after the Allée des Baobabs, the Kirindy reserve is a vestige of primary dry forest. More than 12,500 ha of its surface area are today managed by Madagascar National Parks, which collaborates with various partners to develop and protect the richness of this area. The forestry vocational training center, CNFEREF, manages 12,500 ha. Since 2012, several circuits have been set up to facilitate species observation, and bungalows (plus a restaurant) have been created to enable everyone to stay in this jewel of nature. In all, there are 8 species of lemur, 2 of which are diurnal (notably the fosa, which is easy to see) and 6 nocturnal (including the microcebus berthae, the smallest primate in the area), 68 species of bird, 6 of which are threatened, 43 taxa of reptiles including a crocodile, one species of turtle, 23 lizards and 17 species of snake, and 86 species of ant. As for the flora, rosewood, rosewood and three types of baobab are just a sample of the diversity of species encountered. Bungalows and dormitories allow you to spend the night here and take part in an evening excursion. A documentation center on the life and cultural traditions of the region has been set up here.
