Located in the downtown, along the banks of the Saône, the Hotel d'Europe et d'Angleterre is more than a hotel, it is a monument full of history. This hotel was founded in 1267. At that time, it was a hospital that provided meal and bedding for pilgrims on the road to Saint-Jacques de Compostelle. It was in the 19th century that the establishment became a hotel and began to receive a large number of foreign and especially English clientele, which is probably at the origin of the name of the hotel. Above all, the Hotel d'Europe et d'Angleterre has welcomed many prestigious visitors among which Queen Victoria, Churchill, Salvador Dali, Jean Renoir but also Catherine Deneuve and Brigitte Bardot. Since then, the hotel has been renovated while retaining the rich history of the place and in particular the floors in cement tiles painted in the mass coming from Paray-le-Monial.
The hotel now combines modernity and history thanks to the 31 modern, comfortable and functional rooms overlooking the courtyard or the river saône. Guests can enjoy a breakfast buffet in the breakfast room with organic and local products. In the lobby, a wine bar serves wines from the Burgundy Region and the Rhone valley. A fully equipped meeting room has been recently set up and can accommodate seminars and trainings. A très bientôt
Une atmosphère très particulière, toujours agréable de s'y arrêter
Nous avons déjà recommandé à des amis qui voyagent régulièrement des Pays-Bas vers l'Espagne de visiter quelque chose d'aussi beau. Un bémol cependant, l'emplacement : il aurait été pratique dans le passé, mais maintenant il y a une route devant la porte où les gens conduisent beaucoup trop vite.
Petit déjeuner à 7h00 à revoir....
