Fürth is Nuremberg's neighbor and rival. Competitors yet so close: it was between these two cities that Germany's very first steam locomotive ran in 1834, paving the way for the Industrial Revolution. Today, the subway and S-Bahn continue to bring the two cities closer together. Fürth has an undeniable charm, with its winding streets alternating between half-timbered and stone houses. A testament to its prosperity, Fürth also boasts an impressive number of 19th-century bourgeois facades, and today the city is young and dynamic. You don't have to choose between Nuremberg and Fürth - you can love both.
