St Mary's is the largest and most popular of the Isles of Scilly. It has a small airport and is home to the archipelago's capital, Hugh Town. It's the nerve center of the archipelago, with its array of shops, restaurants, cafés and museums. It also boasts some superb beaches: Porthcressa, Town Beach and Porthmellon. It's also the easiest place to stay.Not to be missed during your visit: the Isle of Scilly Museum, the cliffs at Peninnis Head and the many historic monuments dating from megalithic times to civil war fortifications. It's also a great place for birdwatching and marine wildlife.
