The Etruscan and Roman origins of Paciano have been confirmed by archaeological finds in the area, but the first written documents - which have been found - date from the 10th century. Paciano was under the domination of Perugia, and became a fortified border village. You can observe the character of this medieval village during a walk through the historic centre. Surrounded by 14th century walls with towers and three gates (Porta Fiorentina, Porta Perugina and Porta Rastrella), Paciano is a quiet village with less than 1000 inhabitants. The village has been awarded the label of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy
