A little over 100 km east of Mérida, halfway between Izamal and Tzimin, this rural community bends under the heat; it's the state municipality with the highest migration ratio, particularly to the United States. Although there are a few old buildings in the village (the town hall dates back to 1884), the area is above all a miniature of the Peninsula: the remains of the Tixbacab hacienda and the archaeological remains of Tzebtún are only a few kilometers away. But the most attractive feature is undoubtedly the large number of cenotes- over 130 - to be found here. The best thing to do is to hire the services of a motorcycle cab in the village center, which can guide you along the surrounding paths, or contact the Ts'ono'ot Kaaj organization, which can rent you a bike and take you 6 km away to discover a cenote.
