Manitou, which means amerindian "great spirit", is a charming small mountain town known for its mineral springs. In total, eight naturally gaseous springs, located in its historic center, are available free of charge at the tasting. The two main ones are Shoshone Springs and Wheeler Springs. Gourde in hand, pass from fountain to fountain to see the differences between each water, more or less salty, ferruginous or gaseous. The Amerindians considered this sacred region due to its curative waters and its pure mountain air. The city is also popular for its beautiful center, crossed by a watercourse and the air station, and to be on the path leading to the famous Pikes Peak. There are many restaurants and small shops, all in a relaxed, hippy and connected atmosphere. Many art galleries and jewelry galleries are mainly around Canon Avenue and Manitou Avenue. Please stop at Commonwheel Artists Co-op.The two parks that delimit the city center also bring a nature touch, accentuated by the mountains around.
