About fifty kilometers west of Denver, this little bourgade has been built, like so many others around the corner, around the extraction of gold and agent. Explorer Jackson would have discovered one of the first gold mines in the Rockies. Today, therefore, it is the mining past of the city that is largely highlighted around visits to old extraction and treatment sites, but the region's natural resources are not left. The city center is not large but pleasant with its main street lined with historic buildings and has a beautiful selection of restaurants, bars and breweries.
