Vail is a nice but overworked station, clean but without "soul". While its city center has a luxury shopping center, Vail is still an indispensable destination for ski enthusiasts, certainly even the best of the state. The city is paired with Beaver Creek for the hosting of the Alpine Skiing World Championships, on horseback between the two stations, the first time in 1999 and again in 2015. Vail belongs to Vail Resorts, Inc., a powerful company with four ski resorts in Colorado: Vail, Beaver Creek, Keystone and Breckenridge, and another in the Rocky Mountains, Park City Mountain Resort in Utah. It also includes several other stations across the country and even one in Australia. The company, listed on the stock exchange, also has luxury hotels worldwide including the rockresorts chain.
