Izushi is undoubtedly the most picturesque town in Toyooka commune and is well worth a visit during a stay in the region. Still little frequented by tourists, the town offers the opportunity for visitors to stroll through its small streets lined with pretty traditional houses. Izushi is designated as a National Preservation Area for Important Buildings. It is also a fortified town that flourished during the Edo period. It is easily accessible from JR Toyooka Station by bus. From Kinosaki, there are a few buses to Toyooka every day, with more frequent service at weekends and on public holidays.
