Every Sunday morning, the town wakes up to welcome Sabah's largest tamu (market), bringing together the Rungus, Kadazan, Dusun and Bajau (sea nomads) communities in a picturesque atmosphere. The lively open-air market and ancient mansions are Kota Belud's main attractions. Cruise the Nanamun River to see the fireflies. A 20-minute drive takes you to the village of Mengkabar, gateway to the Big Fin Divers Hideway, a little gem for nature lovers.
