Built on a coal seam, this town was originally a mining camp that even had mines in its streets. Its small houses nestled in the hills add a touch of charm and its surrounding attractions are worth a look. You can go off the beaten track like the Trongol Valley, starting from the El Dos area and passing through Plegarias, a town that survived the closure of its mines. Take the Trongo Alto trail that climbs to the highest parts of the mountain range. Here we enter a forest inhabited by araucarias and coigües, two species of trees native to the region.
