Palma is a tiny village in the far north of Mozambique, on the Tanzanian border. On the fabulous coast of the Indian Ocean, nestled between deserted beaches and coconut palms, the village specializes in basketry and carpet weaving. Although below the poverty line, Palma lives a peaceful life from the sea. In the 2010s, liquefied natural gas deposits were discovered off its coast. The villagers having reluctantly accepted the arrival of multinationals, including Total. Investments were made, but everything is now suspended due to the presence of armed jihadist groups.
