Any great Kenyan champion or great running champion has passed at least once through a training camp in Iten, which has become the Mecca of preparation at altitude (2,400 m). Some French runners even do their preparation there, others come out of curiosity. It is the school of champions, the school of work, the school of life. Don't be surprised to see many Kenyans running on the roadside, sometimes barefoot, because it is in their tradition to run and always run. New York, Paris, London, Berlin, Amsterdam or Chicago: all these marathons have seen dozens of Kenyans on the podium for years. Iten is also a paragliding mecca, where every year, from Europe and elsewhere, come enthusiasts of this extreme sport. For the others, it is a very pleasant stopover, where you can make many hikes or mountain bike rides, on one of the most beautiful roads in Kenya, which crosses the Kerio Valley.
