Bogoria is without doubt the most beautiful lake in the Rift Valley. Its metallic green salt waters, in the heart of arid landscapes, are covered by hundreds of thousands of flamingos. Depending on the year, their numbers (there can be over a million) and concentration are far more spectacular than in Nakuru. This unique ornithological "summit" of the world is beginning to attract an increasing number of visitors, but the place is still little frequented (except sometimes by hordes of Chinese tourists). However, this small reserve of 107 km2 has many assets to show.In an absolutely magnificent site, dominated by the impressive Siracho escarpment, the Bogoria reserve allows, on the one hand, to admire hot springs and geysers which gush out several meters high and, on the other hand, to observe the elusive great kudu. This large and very shy antelope is characterized by its imposing spiral horns. This is one of the only places in Kenya where you will have a chance to see it. The best times of day to see it are early in the morning and late in the afternoon, when the kudu come out of the thickets to drink from the lake or streams. Apart from flamingos and kudu, you can also see gazelles, zebras, dik-diks, buffalos and, exceptionally, a leopard or a cheetah. But it is above all the calm and the majesty of the site which makes the charm of Bogoria, and its sunrises and sunsets offer magical moments!
