Located 360 km northwest of Nairobi, Marich Pass offers spectacular scenery along the Rift Escarpment as it descends westward from Lake Turkana. The term Marich means "the pass" in Pokot. It is a mountain pass that separates the Cherangany Hills from the Sekker Range. Mount Sekerr (Mtelo) rises to 3,354 meters. On the road down to Lodwar, the majestic panoramas follow one another in a parade of mountains, rivers and grandiose valleys. The locality is surrounded by several pokot villages. The only gas station in the vicinity is in the village of Sigor, a little less than 10 km to the east.
