Filandia, the "Daughter of the Andes", is a small town typical of the antioqueña colonization and the coffee culture. It has a magnificent architecture of the XIX century, with colored facades and flowered balconies. Much less touristy than Salento (30 minutes away), it is still an authentic village. From the viewpoint, you can admire the hilly surroundings full of green pastures, guaduales and coffee plantations. There are many hikes to do in the area, to discover rivers and waterfalls of great purity and a very varied ecosystem, especially in the Barbas Bremen nature reserve. The village is becoming more and more open to tourism and there are now hostels and hotels for all budgets and many typical restaurants offering trout, sancocho, meat dishes such as churrasco or costillas which Colombians love.
