Culminant is 2 400 metres above sea level and is a small hamlet perched on the slopes of the mountain in a damp damp forest (bosque nublado in Spanish), about ten kilometres from San Ignacio and La Palma (on the road to El Pital, a little after the deviation of Rio Chiquito). It is said to be the coldest place across the country. Many Salvadoran families enjoy staying there during holidays to disconnect a little from the city and enjoy this kind of «natural air conditioning».
