The Biskupin site is famous for its archaeological park, which reconstructs a large site from Antiquity, a veritable city built before the arrival of the Slavs on this land. Discovered in 1934 when the lake on which it stands was drained, it is one of the greatest archaeological finds in Europe in the last century, and one of the precursors of modern excavation techniques. Today, it is the site of a fabulous open-air museum, akin to a Gallic oppidum. While considerable efforts have been made to enhance and rehabilitate the site, it currently lacks translations for foreign visitors.
