Small locality in Tokushima prefecture. It was born from the merging of the cities of Ikawa, Ikeda, Mino, Yamashiro, and the villages of Higashiiyayama and Nishiiyayama. It is located in the Iya valley, which is considered one of the most beautiful mountain regions in Japan. The bridges of procedurally which cross the gorges of the valley are very popular tourist attractions.
