This municipality owes its name to the surveyor Joseph Bouchette (1774-1841), who played a leading role in the topography of the Quebec territory. The heart of the Vallée-de-la-Gatineau region, it lies on the banks of the Gatineau River, surrounded by lakes and outfitters that attract anglers and hunters of all kinds. The locality is also famous for the famous Lac des 31 Milles, home to the Village Majopial resort on its shores, with its excellent L'Huile d'Olive restaurant. The area also boasts a magnificent regional park where you can camp on one of the lake's many islands.
