La Ferme is the most important village in the west of the island. It is in the stadium of La Ferme that Pope John Paul II came to say a mass on August 15, 1989 during his visit to Rodrigues. Almost all the inhabitants were present, it was a historical event! If you pass through this big village, pay attention to some beautiful buildings located at the entrance coming from Mount Lubin, just after the stadium: on the right, the school, next to it a pretty house with a lovely garden, and, on the left, the convent of the Sisters of Mary. In the center, next to the bus station, there are small shops, banks and a tiny post office.
