Travel Guide Port Sud-Est

Before being a beach, Port Sud-Est is a panorama: one of the most beautiful in Rodrigues to be discovered by a winding road. As soon as you leave the highlands to start the descent towards the coast from Mont Lubin or Saint-Gabriel, the road progressively reveals an exceptionally vast lagoon where the curves of a navy blue pass stand out on a cameo of emerald and turquoise, like a path towards the open sea. Photos galore! Down below, when you head towards Port Sud-Est, a sand bank similar to a white drop precedes the beach that overhangs the pretty red roofs of the Play Mourouk hotel. It is beautiful. At low tide in season, one can observe in the lagoon the ballet of the octopus fishermen who come to Port Sud-Est to track down the octopus in its rocky shelter - another possibility of superb photos. Because of the regularity of its zephyrs and the immensity of its lagoon, this part of the island is also the best kitesurfing spot in this part of the ocean!
