Created in 1984 under Jean-Claude Duvalier, the park originally made 2 000 hectares. In 2013, it was expanded to 8 000 hectares and international development agencies injected approximately $ 10 million into conservation and conservation projects in the ecosystem. There is a tropical, subtropical and temperate fauna and flora: 220 species of birds, and of the 6 500 species of plants estimated, are 141 species of orchids, and 367 species of flowers.
