The village is situated between two bleak, along a unique and hilly path to the sea. It was an easy position to defend. Today is a small port famous for the feast of the sea that the Pestellois organizes every year at Easter, at the sound of the rara orchestras. The city is dominated by the French Fort and, on the seaward, the island Grande Cayemite.
