Nxamasere is a village in the north-western part of the delta, it borders the river near the Okavango enclave, and has an airstrip and a tarmac road, the one that joins Maun to Shakawe, with the A35 running through the village. Nxamasere is the San word used to describe the sound of the wind blowing through the reeds. The area is a sacred site for the San people and has had a major cultural influence on the Nxamasere community. The village has a population of just over 1,600 and has a clinic and school. It is home to one of the oldest lodges in the country, the Nxamaseri Island Lodge. A very nice address!
