A castle located in Torhout with explanations about the history of the castle for a thousand years, and multimedia tools.
This imposing castle, built in the 11th century by the Count of Flanders, was a theatre of history. The right wing is the private residence of the Matthieu family, only the left wing is open to the public. Inside, the visitor will find explanations of the history of the castle over the last thousand years, using multimedia tools. Next to the castle is the chapel of Our Lady of Wijnendale, and nearby is the old ice house. In the woods, there are many walking paths to extend this beautiful visit.
