Less than 200 kilometers from Adelaide, Waikerie, with a population of around 6,600 at the last census in 2021, is a quiet little town where it's pleasant to stroll along the banks of the Murray River and watch the ferryboat go back and forth from one bank to the other. Don't hesitate to drop in at the Visitor Center (on Strangman Road, open daily), where you'll find information on the town, the surrounding area and the Riverlands: brochures, maps, explanatory guides... It's a one-stop shop, and the staff will be happy to help you with any questions you may have. The town is best known for its lemon cultivation, vineyards and orchards.
