This town marks the eastern end of Grand Bahama Island; beyond this limit are a few uninhabited cays, an undisputed paradise for fishermen and lovers of all types of marine life. McLean's Town comes alive every year at the beginning of October for its Conch Cracking Festival. An authentic and colourful event during which since 1972, the best conch crackers (lambis) from all over the country have been competing against each other! It is of course an excellent pretext to enjoy this choice and so typical Caribbean food in a good-natured atmosphere. Activities and musical entertainment punctuate the day.
